Create your own handmade notebooks - Saturday 1st February
Discover the craft of making your own books
In this half-day class, you learn how to make a simple thread sewn notebook and also learn the art of Japanese stab binding. You end our session with an A6 notebook and an A5 stab bound booklet to take home: something for you to enjoy using yourself or a perfect gift!
All tools and materials are provided.
Discover more about what you will learn
In a relaxed, informal group of no more than six people, we start by learning some of the basics of bookmaking. You also have an introduction to the tools we will be using.
Matt will then guide you through the process of creating both of our notebooks. We will take this slowly, step by step. You will be impressed at what you produce.
Finally, you learn a little more about where you can take your book making next and we will celebrate what we have created!
Your tutor for the session is Matt Parker
Matt is an experienced photographer who has been creating handmade books for many years.
Matt is a professional trainer and has studied brain friendly learning. He is on hand throughout the session to make sure that you receive tips, personal feedback and inspiration.
Here are the details
The workshop starts at 9.30am and finishes at around 1.30pm. Light refreshments are included.
All materials are provided. However, you may want to bring your own cover materials - I'll explain more on your joining instructions.
This workshop is subject to a minimum of four people booking.

Testimonials
I was lucky enough to attend a workshop with Matt and learned so much. Matt is an excellent tutor and presented the information in a clear and accessible way. He encouraged us to use our mobile phone cameras to take pictures that went deeper than the usual quick snaps. We also spent a little time on editing software which I found very useful. I took a photo that I really love which I had printed and have hung on the wall at home. I highly recommend this training if you want to explore better mobile phone photography.

I was lucky to be a participant in one of Matt's smartphone sessions.
The day revolved around thinking about what you want to say in your photos - how to construct a scene, how to choose angles, viewpoints and also how to edit your pictures to manage this.
For someone whose main ideas of photos previously had been a recorder of family events, the course was an eye opener.
The main attraction, however, is Matt's experience and ability to put this across. Matt has an excellent portfolio to illustrate his ideas and is a clear communicator in getting this across.
Very highly recommended.

Matt’s photography training simplified the photography process. He inspired me to be much more creative, seeing photographic possibilities in a whole range of subjects. I’d really recommend one of his workshops.
