I make quiet art for a noisy world

Hello, I'm Matt,

My photography has never really been about cameras or technique

It has been about learning to be present, to feel something, and then finding a way to make that feeling visible. It’s not about capturing perfect views: I use my camera as a way to explore how I see, rather than to document what is there. I’m influenced by expressionist painting and a more reflective approach to photography.

I believe that the most powerful images come not from better gear or perfect craft

Instead, it comes from a more honest and personal way of seeing. And this applies whether I am making my own work or teaching others to feel more connected to their photography by creating images with meaning and mood.

I love it when someone stops trying to photograph the way they think they should

That’s when they start photographing the way they actually see. My goal is to help people rediscover that sense of curiosity and connection. To trust what draws them in, to see differently, and to create work that feels personal and meaningful to them.

I want people find their own voice, not echo mine or someone else’s

The photographers I work with are typically ready to ask more of themselves and their creative practice. They might be a little restless. They sense there is something more expressive or emotionally true waiting in their work. My job is to help them find a way in, a shift in perspective.

If that sounds like you I’d love to work with you.

PS  I also like big hikes and local walks, cats, fountain pens, craft beer and chocolate :)

By the way, I've been featured by the Biblioscapes podcast, exhibited by The Corsham Gallery, Gallery No56, Pound Arts and CMAF Open Art Exhibition and I'm represented by Galeria Paloma Larroy in Madrid and Miami.
